Project HOME

This program links the resources of the New York City Family Justice Centers (FJCs) with those of New Destiny Housing to provide safe, affordable, permanent housing for domestic violence survivors who are at risk of homelessness.

Project HOME

Project HOME is an innovative pilot initiative launched in collaboration with the New York City Family Justice Centers operated by the New York City Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence. This collaboration leverages the resources provided by the Family Justice Centers with New Destiny’s expertise and commitment, coupled with access to permanent affordable housing in New York City. Project HOME is designed to promote the long-term safety and stability of domestic violence survivors seeking services at the Family Justice Centers in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx.

Through the program, domestic violence survivors who are homeless or at risk of homelessness are linked with vacant units in safe, affordable, permanent housing. Others receive housing training and technical assistance in applying for public housing and housing in the private market.

Eligibility

Victims of domestic violence receiving services at the Family Justice Centers in Brooklyn, the Bronx or Manhattan who need to move for their safety or, those who have fled their abusers but do not yet have adequate replacement housing may be eligible for Project HOME. The Family Justice Centers in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan are the only entities who may refer clients to Project HOME.
