New Destiny builds affordable, well-designed and environmentally friendly housing. To help families transition to their new lives, we offer on-site services as part of our model.
Buildings in Progress
Morris Avenue - Bronx
New Destiny Housing Corporation is converting 2017 Morris Avenue, a newly-constructed, 39-unit condominium project in the Mount Hope section of the Bronx, into a service-enriched affordable rental project for very low-income tenants.
Half of the units--or 19 apartments--will be reserved for extremely low and very low-income families headed by homeless families coming directly from the domestic violence shelter system. The remaining units will be filled with low-income families and individuals from the general population.
This project is particularly attractive because it contains 11 three-bedroom units, which are in enormous demand for families. The building is located close to shopping and public transportation, which will make it highly marketable.
New Destiny's Family Support Program (FSP) will provide on-site services tailored to the needs of the tenants coming from shelter in order to promote (1) housing stability, (2) tenant safety and (3) progress toward economic security. FSP is an integral part of our affordable housing model, and is designed to create an environment that engages families, builds community and empowers survivors to overcome obstacles while simultaneously offering the support and assistance they often need. The program is delivered by a full-time on-site Tenant Support Coordinator and participation is voluntary.
