Construction starts in the Bronx!
New Destiny broke ground in Highbridge/Concourse section of the Bronx on its thirteenth affordable housing development in August. This service-enriched 41-unit apartment building will house very low-income families and individuals with a set-aside for homeless domestic violence survivors.
Designed by Magnusson Architects, the project will feature a beautiful backyard and playground as well as indoor space for support services, recreation and computer activities.
The units will include a mix of studios, 1 and 2 bedrooms apartments. They will be affordable to families earning 60% or less of Area Median Income and half of the apartments will be reserved for survivors of domestic violence coming from the shelter system.
The project is participating in the NYSERDA Multifamily Performance Program, which will provide savings on energy costs for both New Destiny and the building’s tenants.
The building is expected to open in the Spring of 2012. Check back often for construction updates!

Bainbridge Manor, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn

- We will develop a 23 unit, service-enriched, mixed-income permanent housing on four vacant lots adjacent to three other New Destiny-owned projects in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn.
The project will include community rooms, offices, and a landscaped backyard serving low-income domestic violence survivors as well as families and individuals from the community. The proximity of Bainbridge Manor to our other properties will provide economies of scale in the provision of social services as well as the maintenance and operation of the building.
Bainbridge Manor will incorporate sustainable and non-toxic features and meet NYSERDA's Multifamily Performance Program standards, providing a healthy and economical environment for building residents.
