Finding Affordable Housing
Our Housing Resource Center has comprehensive information on two good options for low-income apartment seekers: NYCHA Public Housing and privately owned and managed Affordable & Supportive Housing Developments. These types of buildings offer apartments at rents affordable to low-wage earners.
For additional support apartment seekers may contact one of HPD's "Housing Ambassadors" who help people prepare and apply for affordable housing.
New Destiny also has tips on how to go about an apartment search, what to expect and how best to prepare. For more information visit our Finding Housing pages.
Victims of domestic violence receiving services at the Family Justice Centers in Brooklyn, the Bronx or Manhattan may also be eligible for New Destiny's Project HOME program where our staff will provide training and information to apartment seekers and help them secure permanent housing.
